Pastor Kevin is a native of Wilkes
County, NC. He was born in Shelby, NC while his parents were in College.
He accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior as a 10-year old boy.
He is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a double major in
Marketing and Management. He graduated magna cum laude and was the top
Marketing student at the university in his senior year.
He and his college roommate started a Bible Study on campus in 1989 and
through this ministry he met his wife, Pam. Pam and Kevin have been
married for 19 years and have four children, two biological Katy, 16 and Kandace, 12 and two adopted children from China, Clara and Andrew who are
both 5 years old.
Kevin accepted the call of God to full time ministry in the fall of 2005
after 16 year career in the corporate world. He has heart and passion for
the family. Kevin is “homegrown” in that he was raised in the church at
Mt. Pleasant. He was saved in the church, baptized and married at MPBC. He
has a unique calling that is actually much like the calling of elders from
within the church they were raised by the church, as recorded in the book
of Acts.
Kevin has a strong passion to see the family restored to its proper place
within the church. The family has been fractured and splintered by the
culture and this segregation of family by age has been brought to the
church.
At MPBC, the family worships together. No children’s church, no youth
services…just the family of God worshipping together as indicated in
Scripture. Kevin believes the only hope for our culture is the church and
the only hope for the church is the restoration of the family.
He believes and teaches if parents will seek to make sure their priorities
are rightly focused on Christ and the Word of God, (Deuteronomy 6: 5-7)
then, they will see the fruits of a full life in Christ through their
family and the family of God versus the "stuff" of this earth that will
all too quickly pass away.
Kevin has a vision to reach the
community by preaching and teaching the Word of God. He has a passion for
mission work that is local as well as abroad (Mexico and Ethiopia). The
church supports various missionaries throughout the world (currently in 9
countries). He practices expositional preaching, verse by verse through
chapters and books of the Bible.
He is unwavering in his desire to lift up Christ as King of Kings and Lord
of Lords with uncompromising vigor and fervor. |
